The DN9848E — 4-In/8-Out Digital System Controller

The Klark Teknik DN9848E is a professional 4-input, 8-output digital loudspeaker management system engineered for system designers, install integrators, and touring engineers who refuse to compromise on PA performance, system protection, or audio quality. With state-of-the-art DSP, comprehensive matrix mixing, and the kind of look-ahead limiting that protects expensive transducers without audible artefacts, the DN9848E represents Klark Teknik’s definitive statement on what a system controller should be.

Preset-Free Routing with Matrix Flexibility

Unlike controllers that lock the engineer into fixed routing presets, the DN9848E offers a preset-free routing structure with a full input-to-output matrix mixer. Any input can feed any output at any level — main PA, delay stacks, fill systems, subwoofer arrays, and monitor sends can all be configured from a single chassis. This is system control built to the way real PA designs actually work.

Comprehensive Signal Processing

Each input carries 12 parametric EQs, 1000 milliseconds of delay, and a full-range compressor — the toolkit needed to shape and protect source material before it reaches the matrix. Each output carries 2 all-pass filters, 6 parametric EQs, 300 milliseconds of delay, a full-range compressor, and a look-ahead limiter, providing the level of per-transducer control that high-resolution loudspeaker management demands. Crossover filters up to 48 dB/octave with Butterworth, Bessel, and Linkwitz-Riley responses cover every standard topology required by modern PA design.

Look-Ahead Limiting for Speaker Protection

The DN9848E’s look-ahead limiters anticipate signal peaks before they arrive at the loudspeaker, preventing overload while allowing the full available signal headroom to remain usable. This is the difference between protection that sounds like protection and protection that simply lets the system work.

Analogue and Digital Inputs, AES3 with SRC

The DN9848E accepts both analogue and AES3 digital inputs, with sample rate conversion on the AES3 path for clean integration with any source clock domain. Innovative multi-mode high-resolution LED channel meters display signal level, internal clip status, and gain reduction simultaneously, giving the operator the metering depth required for serious system work.

Designed and Engineered in the United Kingdom

The DN9848E is housed in a rugged 1U rackmount chassis with an auto-ranging universal switch-mode power supply for global deployment. Designed and engineered at our Kidderminster facility, the unit carries the DN-series’ uncompromising commitment to professional system engineering.
