What is it, and why do I need it?
The Helix EQ Remote Control Software (Helix EQ RCS) is one of the Add-Ins to Midas and Klark Teknik’s Elgar Shell. The Helix EQ RCS allows the user to add up to 64 channels of Helix EQ and to store and retrieve the data to their PC. Users can also edit the data offline on their PC. The Helix EQ RCS allows control of all types of Helix Equalisers – DN9340, Helix DN9340E, DN9344 and Helix DN9344E. We recommend all users upgrade to this version.

Note: the Elgar Library Manager Shell is required for use of this Add-In – please download V2.64 of the Elgar Library Manager Shell from this link: Elgar Library Manager Shell V2.64

The major version number of 4 indicates that it interoperates at a communications level with all other Klark Teknik products running version 4.xx – this includes DN9340, DN9344, DN9340E, DN9344E, DN9848, DN9848E, other Elgar Add-Ins and so on. Note that it is possible to run products with version 3.xx and 4.xx side-by-side, but they must have separate communication paths, and the version of the Host Code and Add-In must have the same protocol. Version 4.03 contains the following new or updated features over version 3.xx:

Control of DN9340, DN9340E, DN9344 and DN9344E and DN9848E units from the same interface

Global EQ Page: change the EQ levels on multiple units with a single control

Managed communication over Ethernet or Serial using the Elgar KT Comms Manager

Rapide Multi Master Mode Support – allows simultaneous control of units from Rapide and the Helix EQ RCS: give the EQ RCS to the System Tech and the Rapide to the Mix Engineer!

Embedded STS module: hook a console directly to the EQ RCS, and the EQ RCS will follow the Solo system: no need for a DN9340 or DN9340E! (Can also follow STS signals from the Rapide)

Several minor fixes.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
In order to convert your unit memories between Host Code versions 3.xx and version 4.xx, you will need to use version 3.xx of the RCS to copy them to your PC and save them as an Elgar file before upgrading the units. You can then send the Elgar file contents to your units using version 4.03 of the RCS, and they will be automatically converted. Note also that to make this easier you can have both version 3.xx and version 4.xx of the Helix DN9340 RCS Add-In installed in Elgar at the same time

What do I need to do it, and how do I go about doing it?
To create or edit data on DN934x units, you will need:
Microsoft .Net framework V1.1. This must be installed on your PC prior to installing the Helix RCS. Visit the Microsoft website to find the correct language version for your PC. We also strongly recommend you run Windows Update (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com) to make sure all your PC components are fully up to date.
DN9340/44/40E/44E version 4.00 or later Host Code loaded on the Helix units.
A PC display resolution of at least 1024x768 pixels.
Windows 2000 or Windows XP. (Windows 98 is NOT supported)

The minimum PC specification that the software can be expected to run on is:
Pentium 3 500Mhz (or equivalent)
256MB RAM
10MB free disc space
At least 1 COM port (for connection to Console)
CDROM (for installation)
(Note that the fewer devices you add to the Elgar Shell, the faster it will be)
