What is it, and why do I need it?
The DN9848 Helix System Controller Software Version 4.03 Host Code is the control programme that runs inside the DN9848 Helix System Controller. This release upgrades version 4.02. We recommend that all users upgrade to this version.

Version 4.03 contains the following new or updated features over V3.xx host code:

Full matrix mixing.

Copying and ganging of input and output channels.

Provision for back-up of RAM-based system memories into flash memory (change in the use of preset memories).

Support for DN9848 units to be controlled by new ELGAR Add-In.

Fixes to issues with backing up System Memories and LCD contrast.

Fixes to system lockups with setting PEQ parameter settings.

The major version number of 4 indicates that it interoperates at a communications level with all other Klark Teknik products running version 4.xx – this includes DN9340, DN9344, DN9340E, DN9344E, DN9848, DN9848E, other Elgar Add-Ins and so on.

Note that it is possible to run products with version 3.xx and 4.xx side-by-side, but they must have separate communication paths, and the version of the Host Code and Add-In must have the same protocol. See the user manual for more details.

IMPORTANT NOTE
If you are upgrading from version 3.02 host code or earlier, you must run the Memory Extractor utility program supplied as part of the 4.03 download before upgrading the unit. Failure to do this will result in the loss of all preset information

NOTE ON USE OF MEMORY EXTRACTION UTILITY WITH V4.03 SOFTWARE FOR DN9848.
The Memory Extraction program will operate with any version of DN9848 host code prior to V4.00, and will convert it to version 4. This enables the operator to gather and save the contents of the DN9848, then use the KTG Program Manager utility to load new host code into the DN9848, and then use the Memory Extractor again to re-insert all the saved program information back into the DN9848 without losing anything.

What do I need to do it, and how do I go about doing it?
To update your DN9848 Helix System Controller to version 4.03, you will need:
A PC running Windows 98, Windows 2000 or Windows XP, with at least 1 COM port or a USB to Serial Converters (see this FAQ for supported converters)

Klark Teknik Program Manager V2.0 or newer (available on this site, and installed automatically with Elgar version 2.64);Cable connection between serial port on the computer and the front port of the DN9848 (this cable is supplied with the unit or is available from your dealer).
